It's gnat season.
Bad news:
Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of unfortunate gnats will meet an untimely death upon being inhaled into my gasping-for-air mouth while I run.
Good news:
I won't have to worry about getting my daily allowance of protein for awhile.

Gnats are probably a good source of protein. Inhale deeply...
A few weeks ago, toward the end of a 14-mile run, I managed to run through a swarm of them (somehow they missed my husband completely). By then my face was totally sweaty, which acted like total magnet. I kept feeling like one was caught in my eye, so I asked my husband to take a look. Turns out my face was COVERED with them!
What a glamorous sport this is :)
Gnats in the mouth I can handle (in moderation, of course) but just keep them away from my eyes! Nothing stops me dead in my tracks like a bug in the eye. I HATE that! Sorry to hear about the bug problem
I remember getting pelted in the face once by what must have been a horsefly while on a run. Stung so badly I was sure it had left a welt.
The things we endure.
Today's television news tells Las Vegas residents we might be getting kissing death beetles via Mexico. Gnats would be a blessing!
Ugh - I hate gnats - there has to be a better way to get protein!
Be glad they're not New England gnats, known as black flys. They bite deep! Fortunately, they only come out during May.
